Uncle Ben has been on a roll, what will he cook up next?

Here we are, another week down and another series in the books. This week saw us finishing up the series against the Mariners with 2 wins on the road, 5-0 on March 31st and 5-3 on April 1st.

After an off day, the Yanks would travel down to Miami to take on the Marlins. We would start the series off strong with an 8-2 win. We would follow that up with a 9-7 win, again similarly to last week, not being a fan of seeing our opponents reassess and come back better in the follow-up game. That would end up biting us in the final game of the series, where we would fall to the Marlins 7-6.

Lastly, our player spotlight is none other than Mr. Ben’s Original himself, Ben Rice. The 27-year-old from Dartmouth College made his big league debut on 6/18/2024. Rice was drafted in the 12th round (363rd overall) in 2021. He signed a roughly one-year, $782,800 deal in 2025, staying on with the Yanks. Rice’s 2025 stats are a .255 AVG, .337 OBP, and .836 OPS, with 26 HRs as a lefty batter. Rice has also floated around three positions on the Yankees: DH, catcher, and now finds himself getting the most reps at 1B. He saw his first home run of the season on April 1st against the Mariners. As mentioned before, Rice also has a sponsorship deal with Ben’s Original Rice.

Ben Rice has been one of the most promising young talents on the Yankees in the last few seasons. If the Yankees plan to keep Rice going forward, it will be interesting to see if they have him stay at 1B or transition to DH permanently as Giancarlo Stanton’s contract begins to come to a close. If Rice regresses at the 1B position, I could see them sticking him at DH while picking up a 1B.

That is all for now—I’ll see you... on the field.
