Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another fun-filled week of Yankees baseball.

On 4/21, the Yankees started the series strong against the Boston Red Sox (cue the boos). Giancarlo Stanton launched a home run in the top of the 2nd inning, with the next scoring coming in the top of the 6th, again by Stanton, who blasted a two-run double. Finally, in the top of the 8th, Randy Grichuk hit an RBI double that brought Cody Bellinger home. Yankees win 4–0.

On 4/22, the series continued with a 4–1 win, highlighted by a dominant performance from Max Fried. He pitched 8.0 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, 0 earned runs, and striking out 9. What a night for our ace. Ahmed Rosario hit a three-run home run in the top of the 1st. Later, Rosario added a sacrifice fly in the top of the 3rd, allowing Judge to score. We also saw a great defensive backhanded play by Ryan McMahon to end the bottom of the 6th inning. Unfortunately, Headrick gave up the only run of the game in the bottom of the 9th.

On 4/23, we saw the debut of hometown “hero” Cam Schlittler, who went 8 innings with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. It was a slow start for the Yanks, with a home run by Jazz Chisholm—the first of the year—in the top of the 5th. Bellinger delivered a line-drive two-run pinch-hit single, giving the Yankees a 3–2 lead in the top of the 7th. Judge followed with another line drive, bringing Caballero home in the 7th, and the Yankees completed the sweep.

On 4/24, the Yankees opened the series with a 12–4 win. Ben Rice recorded an RBI single on an infield error. We also saw Jazz Chisholm heat up with a two-run single. Ryan McMahon hit a home run in the 2nd inning, and Jazz caught Alvarez sleeping trying to steal second. Chisholm later added another home run in the top of the 4th. Unfortunately, Giancarlo Stanton left the game with calf tightness and was placed on the 10-day IL a few days later. Ben Rice added another home run in the 7th—his 9th of the year. Escarra also hit a solo home run in the 7th as the Yankees dominated. Final highlights: Rice 2–5, HR (9), 3 R; Chisholm 3–4, HR (2), 4 RBI.

On 4/25, the second game of the series was another Yankees win, 8–2 against the Astros. Houston scored first, but Grisham answered with a solo home run in the top of the 3rd. Caballero followed with another solo home run in the 5th. The game was tied in the bottom of the 6th, but Wells hit a solo home run in the top of the 7th. In the 9th, Rosario singled, putting Bellinger on second. Wells then added a base hit to bring Bellinger home, and McMahon ripped a hit to right field, scoring Rosario. Highlights: Wells 2–3, HR (2), 2 RBI; Caballero 3–5, HR (3), SB.

On 4/26, the Yankees suffered their first loss, falling 7–4. They were scoreless until the top of the 6th, when Judge hit a solo home run on his birthday. As a result, Luis Gil was demoted to Triple-A after a rough outing. With Giancarlo Stanton on the IL, Jasson Domínguez was called back up to serve as DH in his place.

The Yankees bounced back on 4/27 with a 4–2 win over the Rangers. Ben Rice hit a two-run home run in the top of the 3rd, immediately followed by a solo home run from Judge. Chisholm joined the party with a home run of his own in the top of the 4th. We also saw a great defensive pickoff by Fried in the bottom of the 4th.

Our Pinstripe Rewind takes us back 106 years. On May 1st, 1920, Babe Ruth hit his first home run in a Yankees uniform in a 6–0 win against his former team, the Boston Red Sox, at the Polo Grounds in New York City. Ruth would go on to hit 714 home runs in his career, with 659 coming as a Yankee.

Our Player Spotlight of the Week highlights Ryan McMahon.

The 31-year-old from Yorba Linda, CA, is currently the Yankees’ third baseman. He previously played for the Colorado Rockies (2017–2025). He is signed through 2027 on a 6-year, $70M deal (2022–2027) and was originally drafted by the Rockies in the 2nd round of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Mater Dei High School (Santa Ana, CA).

In 2025, he has posted the following stats: .208 AVG, .308 OBP, .333 SLG, .641 OPS. Some current facts about McMahon include that he is a 2025 All-Star and was traded to the Yankees in 2025 in exchange for Josh Grosz and Griffin Herring.

That’s all for now—I’ll see you… on the field.
